QUEEN STREET, MOSMAN

Building Details:  Completed August 2025.

Project Team:  McNally Architects

Builder: Sullivan Carpentry

Photography: Tom Ferguson

This project revitalises an existing Mosman residence by retaining its original footprint while reimagining its aesthetic and functionality. A new zinc-clad facade and custom entry redefine the street presence, harmonising with original materials.

Internally, the layout was reconfigured to open the kitchen and living spaces to the backyard via Vitrocsa sliding doors, extending terrazzo flooring to the rear balcony. The design introduced intimate zones throughout the home, including a home office, kids’ media room, a parents’ retreat, and a versatile gym/dance studio. Existing elements such as the staircase and sauna were retained but updated, maintaining a connection to the home’s history. All bedrooms were modernised with custom joinery, and bathrooms reimagined with marble feature walls.

The result is a calm, inviting home that reflects the client’s free-spirited and joyful lifestyle, contributing to Mosman’s built environment with thoughtful adaptation and a focus on lifestyle-oriented design. This design was recognised as the People’s Choice Winner in the Mosman Design Awards 2025.
