Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD)We believe the Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD) is recognised as not only one of the fundamental factors in planning but also as one of the fundamental guiding principles for the design of all architectural projects. McNally Architects philosophy is that energy efficiency and environmental design are part of good design. This 'sustainability' is something that is integral to the design process rather than adjunct to it. Our ESD knowledge is incorporated in all stages of the project, from planning, material selection and construction techniques. McNally Architects keeps up to date with the lastest ESD principles. These principles are also balanced by the total life costs, and the needs of each project to be low maintenance, energy efficient, cost effective and as environmentally neutral as possible. The extensive knowledge and track record we have of all the above will be included in the design and construction stages of the project. McNally Architects are working towards becoming a member of the Green Building Council of Australia. We currently use the Green Star building assessment for all our aged care projects. |
