Avondale Gardens, Dapto

This site is a large vacant allotment of 13.68 hectares, immediately adjacent to a residential development. Our design has created a 'park environment' that has many micro-environments for residences to enjoy and interact with. At the core of the site is the central community space that has a putting green, amphitheatre, outdoor chess tables and a herb garden for the residence to nurture.

Stage one comprises of 244 high care beds in two seperate two storey buildings and 108 low care beds in two seperate two storey buildings. Stage two is for 20 self-care villas.

The latest ESD technology and systems have been used for site containment and recycling of all site waste due to the environmentally sensitive site conditions. The buildings height has been kept to two storeys to keep a residential community scale. The buildings plan creates many enclosed courtyards that connect the living/dinning spaces to the landscaped spaces. Living spaces have been located amongst bedroom areas that will be used as gathering spaces to give the residences a sense of community. A selection of external materials have been chosen to give a residential scale to the buildings and to give the building 'skin' a visually interesting texture.
