161 bed – high and low care facility.
Previous stage, 10 self care villages. The existing facility has 109 high care beds many which are in 4 bed configuration with outdated communal bathrooms.
Design brief was to alter one wing containing 43 beds and provide a new wing to maximise bed numbers. Car parking, laundry and kitchen facilities were to be reviewed. Solution, is to demolish existing wing to slab level, reconstruct this wing as two stories and provide a new connecting wing with basement car parking and two stories of accommodation over.
Total new building works accommodating 95 beds being 64 high/dementia care beds and 31 low care beds. The total accommodation of the facility will be 161 beds.
