150 high care facility – remodeling. Design and DA documentation.

The existing facility comprises 120 high care beds, 10 in single rooms, the remainder in 4 bed rooms with large common ablution facilities. Design brief was to comply with 2008 requirements of 1.5 beds per room average together with required ablution facilities. Solution, DA approved, and which is tied into the Avondale Gardens project (see separate project summary) was to provide a complete second storey over ground floor footprint. This equates to a total of 149 beds. Existing car parking and access were adequate. For the project to proceed the building would be totally vacated. The proposed Dapto project would be built first to accommodate those residents who choose to go there.
