Alexander Nursing Home, Brookvale

Existing 37 bed high care facility in various configurations from single to 6 bed wards. The operation and servicing of the residences was inefficient and costly.

The brief was to re-plan the existing building for a more efficient daily running of the facility, upgrade to the current standards and add 20 extra high care beds in a new wing. The new two storey wing is planned on the adjacent site with new laundry at basement level. A new kitchen will be incorporated in the new wing. This allows for the continual operation of the existing facility whilst the new wing is being built then transfers beds to the new wing and reconfigures existing building.

Construction began February 2009.
